What gets somebody onto the record

The standard, published, so that it can be argued with.

Since the record is going to grow, the standard should be public. Three things put somebody on Faces of Lebanon.

The work carried past Lebanon. Not that they were successful in Beirut, which matters but is a different list. That what they built was consequential somewhere that had no particular reason to care they were Lebanese.

It can be verified. Every entry has to survive somebody hostile checking it. No family claims, no repeated anecdotes, no numbers we cannot source. If a fact only exists in three blog posts quoting each other, it does not go on.

And the Lebanese connection is real rather than decorative. Born there, raised there, or a direct family line. Not a grandmother’s cousin found by a genealogist to pad the list.

What does not get somebody on: fame alone, wealth alone, or being liked. There are wealthy Lebanese people who built nothing and famous ones who did nothing.

Nominations are read. Most are declined, and the reason is almost always the second rule.
